we as a fandom must think of a name for this new doctor, because I refuse to call our doctors anything other then what we call them. 

Is that okay, fandom? please say yes

it is okay. i am speaking for the fandom in general here. if john hurt’s regeneration came between 8 and 9 we can call him the lost regeneration or 8.5. if he comes after 11 then we can call him 12. 

Why would John Hurt’s Doctor be between 8 and 9? 

If he came between 8 and 9 Clara would have recognized him. 

I don’t know where this theory came from? 

It was pretty clearly implied, I think, that he had something to do with the end of the Time War; with wiping out all of the Daleks, all of the Time Lords, and whoever else was involved.

And The Doctor explained that he, John Hurt, isn’t a “Doctor”, he’s different, because of the things he’s done.

Nine, Ten, and Eleven will still be the Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh Doctors, but one incarnation removed from their number. The Ninth Doctor is the tenth incarnation of this Time Lord.

OH!!!!! Okay, I understand now. While I don’t personally support this theory, it makes perfect sense now.
